Design & Details

Enhance the look of your cabinets with these beautiful Blue Tiger Eye cabochon knobs. With its deep, silky blue hues and captivating chatoyancy (the “cat’s eye” effect), Blue Tiger’s Eye, also known as Hawk’s Eye, is a stunning variety of quartz infused with natural fibers of crocidolite. This mesmerizing stone shifts in color from dark navy and teal to flashes of gray and gold when viewed under light, creating a sleek, polished appearance with a dynamic shimmer.

Appearance & Unique Features

In Low Light: A deep, inky blue with subtle, swirling patterns.
In Bright Light: Subtle streaks of blue and silver appear, moving across the stone like liquid silk.

  • As this product is made from stone with naturally occurring variance, differences in color and pattern are to be expected. (Please see the color variance image.)
  • Machine screw for .75" door/drawer panel thickness is included.
  • Base color options: Oil Rubbed Bronze, Satin Brass (light gold tone), Polished Nickel finish.

-------

Blue Tiger’s Eye (Hawk’s Eye) is rarer than traditional Golden Tiger’s Eye, but it is still considered a semi-precious stone rather than an exceptionally rare mineral. It is found in limited deposits worldwide, and high-quality specimens with strong chatoyancy and deep blue coloration are less common than their golden or red counterparts.

Why is Blue Tiger’s Eye Rarer Than Golden Tiger’s Eye?

  • Formation Process: Blue Tiger’s Eye is the earliest stage of Tiger’s Eye formation, where crocidolite (a blue asbestos-like mineral) has not yet fully oxidized into the golden-brown hues of traditional Tiger’s Eye. This makes finding high-grade Blue Tiger’s Eye more difficult, as much of it eventually transforms into the more common golden variety.
  • Limited Mining Locations: The main sources of Blue Tiger’s Eye are South Africa, Namibia, Western Australia, and Brazil, but deposits are not as widespread as Golden Tiger’s Eye.
  • Color & Quality Rarity: Premium-quality stones with deep, vibrant blues are harder to come by.
